AA Medallions Are Positive Reminders Of Significant Steps In Achieving Sobriety
AA medallions came into use almost 70 years ago. Using medallions began as a means of acknowledging significant sobriety accomplishments of people who were trying to break their addiction to alcohol. Using medallions proved more effective and productive than the previous system of tribute which was to present a birthday cake to mark significant achievement times in the path to sobriety. The awarding of medallions became the favored method of recognizing participants’ triumphs when it became all too obvious that the pomp and ceremony surrounding the cake presentation would all too frequently lead people back to their old drinking habits.
