First, the male Allen’s Hummingbird is a really gorgeous looking hummer, and small at only 3″ to 3 1/2″ long. Its sides are a beautiful cinnamon color, and its tail and rump are a dark rusty color. Its throat and cheeks are a very deep fiery orange color. The wings, head, and back are all the same color, a bronze-green accentuated by a brilliant metallic shimmer. The adult female has a whitish throat, its top is bronze-green too, and its sides are pale and rusty colored.
