Outsourcing Your Admin Work

Successful businesses focus on developing and realising their ideas, producing their products or services and selling them. However, many businesses become bogged down with the day-to-day tasks needed to run any business. Many of those tasks can in fact be out sourced, easily.

Most large businesses already outsource procurement, travel, car hire, marketing, cleaning and maintenance. Doing so saves them time and allows them to focus on their core business. Oddly, those same businesses often continue to do all of their own admin work. Yet their accountant can often be paid to do much of this work for them.

If you want to outsource admin work a logical place to start is the payroll. Your accountant will easily look after this task for you with very little input needed from you. Just keeping up to date with legislation and adjusting your payroll system to accommodate these changes is difficult. Much of the data you need to submit in order to get your employees P35s & P60s produced is also time consuming to keep track of. An accountant is more used to payroll systems, so can often do this task more efficiently. Their efficiency means that they can often do your payroll cheaper than you can.

Invoicing and VAT are other areas where an accountant can do the job more efficiently and cheaper than you can. Keeping good VAT records is especially important. Failure to do your VAT accurately and in a timely manner can lead to some very serious problems for your business. If you fail a VAT inspection once, you can guarantee that your next inspection will be even harder to pass. If you keep very poor VAT records it can look like you are hiding something and you can easily end up in court. Giving invoicing and VAT records tasks to your accountant will avoid these potential pitfalls.

You frequently need financial reports for internal business meetings or meetings with financial backers or customers. Designing and producing or updating these reports can be time consuming. Once again, your accountant can often produce and update these reports on your behalf. They can do the same with your business plan. Their experience in producing business plans can also mean that when you use their plan to seek further finance you will be more successful than with a business plan that you have produced.
