In today’s western societies, over 50% of mothers with small children are forced to go to work in order to make ends meet. Parents may have to place their smaller children in Day Care, or other family members such as grandparents are conscripted to fulfill those duties.
Many people use Child Care Centres; the standards are generally satisfactory. But many families feel uneasy leaving their children with strangers, and the cost factor is prohibitive. Often, family members are co-opted into the child caring role, with grandparents taking a welcome lead, but siblings also.
There is a growing trend of small family operated and home-based businesses, started because parents want to spend quality time with their children. The home business can generally claim more expenses at tax time, and travel cost that were part of employment are reduced. More often than not, family income increases.
A further problem may be the type of business that can be operated from home. Traditional brick & mortar businesses usually require substantial capital in their start up phase. Staff costs can also be prohibitive. Increasingly budding entrepreneurs are turning to non-traditional business models, such as Internet marketing business, focusing on niches, where one of the family has an interest, knowledge or skill.
As the number of businesses on-line increase, so does competition. If a business is managed and promoted correctly, their chances of success increase, so systems that have proven to work are used my many entrepreneurs. By copying success, you gain success.
For Working Moms relationships handling is an area where most are competent. They intuitively know that it is the relationship that makes the sales. That people will buy from someone they trust. Having a great website may help, but is not the key trigger for a buying decision.
On line business and the interaction with customer will be the major marketing focus in the future. Establishing a relationship with a potential customer will be more important than sales, as the business owner knows that once the relationship is solid, repeat sales are probable. So, data collection and analysis, as a part of information sharing will be the norm. Products that match the customers needs can then be offered without any intrusion.
