Mark Cella Secrets Of Freshwater Trout Fishing

Mark Cella fresh water fishing lakes

Fishing has become many a man’s sport now-a-days. So, before heading to your lake ofchoice, call ahead of time to the nearest lodge or tackle shop to find out when the lake is stocked. You don’t want to drive for hours and get to a lake with no more fish.

Because most anglers snatch up all the fish within a few days of the lake being stocked you’ll want to know what to expect. If you’re expecting to head up the mountain on a Friday and the lake was stocked Monday, well it’s gonna be a lot more challenging, not impossible, just challenging to catch your dinner.

Mark Cella fresh water fishing weather

This article isn’t going to cover the basic equipment you must have in order to even begin. It’s knowing what time of day and weather conditions that will also help you dramatically. From my experience fresh water fish love to eat when it’s dark and cold. Early morning and late evenings are best.

If the forecast is rain or snow you’re in luck. And if it’s like that in the very early morning hours, you’ve got the most optimal conditions. It will also be a lot more fun for the true angler mountaineer to have to stay warm in the midst of it all. Just stay of the lake if there’s lightning so you don’t get cooked up for the fishes supper.

Mark Cella trout lures

You made it to the stocked lake, it’s early in the morning, it’s starting to rain, now what? You gotta have the right lure and bait. Fish adapt to their environment well. They’ve probably gained their sense of what other fishermen are up to. So, you may have to ask around or experiment with baits.

Lures however are easy. Just use a smaller one with preferably two hooks and the key is to use shiny when it’s dark and use dark when it’s bright out. In the dark they can see the glittery thing moving around the water. When it light out the shiny lure looks like sunshine. Pretty simple, yet highly effective strategies.
