If you are raising children by now you are probably suffering with sticker shock at the price of their toys when you go buy a gift for them. It is nice to know though that you do not always have to pay top dollar to purchase them. A lot of the toys are true classics but some others are faddish. These are the ones that come out with a roar one year only to die out the following year. When interest is lost in these particular toys, you should be able to find them in clearance at a reduced price.

You don’t have to wait for a toy to go out of style to save a lot of money on it though. Some toys are thrown in the clearance bin when the season changes or when a hot new toy comes along and needs the shelf space. In these instances, you may be able to pick up popular toys while they are still in demand.

Toys can be placed in clearance when they are returned by someone. If the box has been wrinkled or ripped and does not look attractive but the enclosed toy still looks brand new. To be able to encourage someone to buy a toy in the banged-up box, a store places it on sale so it will sell.

Most toy stores have an area of the store that is devoted to clearance items and the inventory changes on a frequent basis. As new toys come in, older ones are placed in the clearance area to make room. There are also certain times of the year when you can expect to find big toy clearance sales.

Just prior to the rush at Christmas, the stores need to get rid of some older toys to clear out space for shiny and bright new ones. The toys could even be the exact same thing but packaged to where you will be more inclined to buy them because of the holidays. You can also see some of the clearance sales to be in the late part of the fall. These sales are great to shop at for your Christmas presents so that you can save money. You can do layaway on some stores and make payments over the period prior to Christmas.

One time of the year that is easy to find toys on clearance is just before the store’s inventory is going to be taken. This happens normally in January or February each year. You can find toys on clearance due to the store getting rid of seasonal products, winter merchandise and the toys that are being bought. You could even find some of the toys your children wished for at Christmas but did not receive.

Make sure to search online and the stores in your area for clearance sales on toys. The retailers online have to control their inventory, as do the local stores in your area. They normally have at least some merchandise on clearance all throughout the year.

Raising kids costs a lot of money so it always helps to save it where you can. You don’t have to deprive your kids to save money on toys. Just be a smart shopper and look for clearance sales. Your kids will be happy and they don’t even have to know you bought their toys on sale.
